Muang Thong FC 1 Buriram PEA 2

Saturday’s super big match saw reigning champions Muang Thong FC play against last year’s runners up Buriram PEA. The Thunderdome Stadium was full, of people. Some say over 7000 people came to enjoy the late evening sunshine.

Then the game started. The next day. And the team in orange scored a goal with a headed volley. After that the teams went off the field for fifteen minutes, possibly to protest about the goal. When the teams came back the goalkeepers were in the wrong goal, but the referee from Mongolia allowed the game to carry on. Then an English guy scored from a free kick inside the box.

A little bit later one of the players in red asked the Alaskan referee if he could leave early and the referee gave him a card to get his car out of the nearby car park. Then the orange team scored again and the game was over.Muang Thong FC, the Twin Sea Lions,  are now too far behind the Buriram Breaths and look set for a scrap with Chonburi for a Europa League spot.
