| Club History | Founded: 1999 (as Si Saket Steel Rock), 2007 (Si Saket FC), 2012 (Esan United), 2013 (Si Saket FC)
2008: 4th – Division 2 (promoted) 2009: 3rd – Division 1 (promoted) Having spent the first decade of their existence in the various versions of a Provincial League, Si Saket gained consecutive promotions to reach the Thai Premier League. They were the first club from Thailand’s Northeast to be promoted to the TPL, and have remained there since 2010. They were controversially moved to Ubon Rachatani and re-branded in 2012. A number of Si Saket faithful followed the team throughout the season to protest, but seemingly to no avail. Finally, in December 2012, a judge ruled there was enough evidence of forgery in the Esan documentation for criminal proceedings. After lengthy deliberation, the FAT ruled that Esan Utd’s TPL place would return to Si Saket FC, just 12 days before the season began. |
